By Judy Cohen Minches l The Central Record
MEDFORD—The success of the Medford Education Foundation’s (MEF) next fundraiser will hopefully be a slam dunk.
The MEF is targeting teams of boys and girls, ages 10 through 14, as well as teachers and administrators, to compete during a three-day basketball tournament, from Nov. 13-15.
So far, the tournament has attracted 12 teams with the potential for 20, said MEF trustee Kelly Kennedy, who is organizing the tournament along with her husband.
The cost to participate is $300 for a three-game minimum. All monies raised will benefit Medford schools, and fees for the tournament are 100 percent tax deductible, Kennedy said.
Checks are payable to the Medford Education Foundation, c/o Super Rat Basketball Academy, 150 Himmelein Rd, Blue Barn, Medford, NJ 08055.
All teams are welcome for this first-time MEF event, Kennedy said.
“We are hoping to attract travel, Amateur Athletic League (AAU) and Christian Youth Organization (CYO) teams as well as anyone else who would like to put a team together.”
The momentum is building, with teams signed up from as far away as Flemington and Howell.
“This will be a well-run tournament due to the experience of the people who are running it,” Kennedy said of the Super Rat Academy. “It will be a great competition.”
